Kaohsiung Medical University’s Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy Research Center hosted the “2025 Taiwan Regenerative Medicine Summit” on April 10, and on April 11 a delegation of more than 20 summit participants visited Fo Guang Shan and the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum to pay respects to Venerable Master Hsing Yun and learn about Humanistic Buddhism.

During the visit, Venerable Hui Chuan drew a parallel between regenerative medicine, which repairs damaged organs and cells, and Humanistic Buddhism, which heals minds afflicted by greed, anger, and ignorance, sharing stories such as the collaboration on lantern restoration with inmates as an inner healing process. Nobel laureate–associated teams, Prof. Kenji Osafune (Deputy Director, Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, Kyoto University), experts from Japan and Singapore, and local medical leaders expressed deep appreciation for the solemn atmosphere, architectural beauty, meaningful guided tour, and the inspiring connection between spiritual cultivation and medical science.

The visit was initiated and led by KMU PhD student Yu, Fu-Tzu, whose family are long-time devotees of Fo Guang Shan, as a way to pass on their faith and introduce international scholars to Humanistic Buddhism and the spiritual heritage of Fo Guang Shan.
